Fifth Grade Dual Language Students Promote to Issaquah Middle School

Dual Language students holding certificates on stage.

This spring, Issaquah Valley Elementary promoted its very first class of Dual Language students to Issaquah Middle School. These incredible students began their journey together in kindergarten—and they’re now making history as the program’s first cohort to move up!

“On a recent assessment, those students out-performed the country,” said Superintendent Tow-Yick. “They also performed really well on the indicators for reading, writing, speaking and listening in Spanish. That’s a really incredible success point.”

Next year at I.M.S., they’ll continue their bilingual journey with social studies taught in both Spanish and English by a bilingual educator.
